Before you call us
It is worth checking the overflow relief gully before you call - the grated drain outside, usually near the bathroom wall. If it is overflowing, that is the system doing its job, protecting the inside of the house, and it tells us the blockage is in the main sewer line rather than the fixture. Mentioning it on the phone changes what we bring. Have a think about when it started and whether it has been getting worse. A drain that has been slow for months and has now stopped is a different job from one that blocked overnight, and the answer changes whether we expect roots, grease or an object. Stop using the affected fixtures until we arrive.
