In 2008 the city grew from 229 to 913 sq km by taking in Beenleigh, Eagleby and the northern part of Beaudesert Shire, which is why it now stretches from suburban streets to semi-rural land.
At the 2021 Census the City of Logan had 345,098 people and 125,926 private dwellings, with a median age of 34. Separate houses made up 85.0% of occupied dwellings, semi-detached, row or terrace houses or townhouses 11.8%, and flats or apartments 2.7%. Of those homes, 34.6% were rented, 22.6% were owned outright and 40.0% were owned with a mortgage.
